Best CVS Trip EVER

When I had strep a few months ago, I earned two $25 giftcards for CVS for NEW PRESCRIPTIONS. I swear I don't know how CVS stays in business.

Anyway this evening I needed to get another prescript filled and decided to use up some coupons I had that were expiring 4/30. So I went and filled my prescrip and it gave me $7 in extra care bucks WHOOP.

I got 2 bottles of Nivia body soap (EXPENSIVE), a 24 ct BC Powder, some lavender petrol jelly, some Tylenol PM and a Diet Coke.

It rang up at $30 which is RIDICULOUS. With all my coupons I got it down to $13 and used one of my $25 gift cards and yep, didn't use all of is. Still $12 left on it.

There is NOTHING better than FREE!

and P.S. I absolutely love BC Powder. Maybe it's my backwoods South Carolina blood but nothing seems to work for me like this stuff. :) It was a major score tonight!

Pics

Ok so ... the decision was BUILD! We have bought a 1.62 acre plot in a small new subdivision (50 parcels, 49 houses) in an adjoining town. Only one person has started building and we intend to build in a year. We're going to pay off the land first and take this year to design, interview builders and finally begin the building process. This is a really nice piece of land - it's 176 feet across and in the back, has a creek. There are 9 water lots in this neighborhood and we got the last one. I am really excited to say this is not a manmade creek or lake - it's a natual creek, made by the joining of two larger creeks. It has a lot of vegetation and a lot of wildlife. We are very excited and so relieved to have made a decision. So ... there you go ... let the plans begin. I'll post more as the roads are built (this summer). We close on the land May 3rd. Then it will be OFFICIAL! Let the adventure begin!

A Decision

I was trying to upload pics this morning, but something is wrong with Blogger.

So ... I will just put out a tease, although my close friends and family already know .... but the tease IS Conrad and I FINALLY made a decision about our future living arrangements. Either way, buy or build was ok with me I just wanted to KNOW .... and last weekend we made a decision and it's in the works and it's settled and DONE and I can stop stalking all the realtors, and HAR.com and all the places that have land for sale ... no more open houses ... and it's very freeing.

I didn't want to say what we decided til I had some pics and like I said, I can't upload them. SO just know we made a decision and we're pumped and as SOON as I can upload I will.

Spa Bath

It is no secret I always wanted a spa bath ... the spa is my refuge and I love to go and do, as much as possible. I was looking for a battery powered lamp, in order to cast some mood lighting ... but could never find one. Suddenly I remembered battery operated CANDLES! ... so I found one and cute holder - and then I went outside and brought in my $6 Hobby Lobby table find. I had been using it as a back porch decoration. Anyway ... welcome to Spa Hopkins!

Weekend Endeavors

Well, as we ring in a new weekend tomorrow I am FINALLY posting pics of last weekend's improvements. First of all, the new light outside on the backporch. Subtle, but much needed.

Then our lovely swamp ground in the backyard. Every time it rains or whenever the AC kicks on for long periods of time (summer) we have a little swampy area. Conrad decided to make it a garden and at least utilize the wet ground, if we can. So ... garden before
and then garden after!

and then finally, I have no before pic, but Conrad decided to brick in the tree out front and give him fresh mulch. It is a tree he planted seven years ago. I watched this tree bend all the way down to the ground during Hurricane Ike, for nine hours straight as it held up to 90 mph winds. It's a hefty fellow! So Conrad just added some curb appeal for $30. Not a bad addition. I love how it all turned out!

New Product: McCormick Recipe Inspirations

These are really great! I saw a commercial on them last week and when I did my shopping this weekend, I picked one up. The thought behind it is sometimes you don't have all the spices you need and you only need a little, why buy a big bottle AND also that spices go bad ... so maybe the chili powder you bought in 2007 is no longer as strong.

So McCormick is now making recipe inspirations. They have 6 of them, from what I can tell and at Kroger are 2/$3. On the back, you peel off the recipe card (so you can keep it) and then all the individual spice packets fall out. They give you exactly the amount you need for this recipe. AWESOME!

We made the Quesadilla Casserole tonight. REALLY good. I wouldn't have changed much - maybe used more hamburger, but it was really good, really simple and now I have the recipe card!

The flavors are this one, Apple Sage Pork Chops, Garlic Lime Fajitas, Rosemary Chicken and Potatoes, Shrimp and Pasta Primavera and Spanish Chicken Skillet.

I think it's worth checking out - and took less than 15 minutes to put together! For a Monday night, this was gourmet!

Delightful

I woke up this morning and though it was Saturday. But it's NOT! It's FRIDAY and we're both off !!!! It was so nice to sleep until 8, make my coffee, flip through my Southern Living and just laze around. It feels so different to have a holiday vs a vacation day. Vacation days usually come with some guilt since I know I am leaving my work with my coworkers. But not today !!!

Conrad hung out backporch light - it looks GREAT. The wires were all up there, but the builder never installed a light. Conrad never wanted a light back there, but the more I thought about it, the more I thought it would be good to have one for when the house goes up for sale AND I really wish for one when he's out of town and Blanca has to go out. So, a win/win!

Now Conrad has run off to Lowe's - because HE IS BUILING ME A RAISED GARDEN! YAY!
I had wanted a recession garden last year ... but we never got around to it. There's a spot in the backyard which seems to flood and Conrad is sick of it just being a mosquito breeding ground. So there's one of those black weed clothes laying down out there and today he will build the garden on top of it. Tomorrow we'll go get the plants - I am thinking onions, herbs, bell peppers, etc - I gotta research it today. I think onions might be a winter crop.

Anyway, pics to follow!

Happy Easter - remember the reason for the season!
