Sorry

The last time I blogged it was Memorial Day and here we are approaching the 4th of July. WHOOPS~

I just HAVE NOT been into it.

But let's see - we met with a home builder - that's a start! I went to FL and had a great four days. It was very relaxing and it's always good to see my family.

I've made some good dinners ... and things are just plugging along ... I'm just busy and tired and those things that come along with livin' .... :)

I will be posting my FL pics soon.

Karyn & Conrad's White Trash Memorial Day

Last Friday the HOA opened up the offices so the residents could secure their pool passes for the summer. Conrad and I parked outside the office and watched all manner of trashy people march in and out. I can't figure out where they live- I think in the back of the subdivision cause TRUST ME, if I saw these peeps on a daily basis I would be OUT. Most of them even wore their BATHING SUITS down to get their pool passes. What did it for me was seeing a mom and her 14 year old HEAVILY TATTOOED daughter walk by. The daughter was BARELY in a suit, with about a foot and a half wings tattooed on her back. Conrad was inside and heard the mom arguing. Apparently they are not current on their HOA dues and could not get a pass. The mom reasoned, "Hey - I'm not going to be coming down here to the pool, SHE IS" .... and that right there cemented my decision that I would not be spending any time with these unsavories this summer. Melanoma will have to wait!

The next morning I came up with one of my more brilliant ideas. No reason the Abercrombie- Hopkins house can't be something of a resort in itself, yeah? So I took myself off to Target with my $25 gift card that I earned for Perfect Attendance at work in 2009 - that's RIGHT - can I get a "what what" ? ... and I purchased us the finest 69 inch, blow up pool $25 can buy. That's right baby - Conrad hooked it up to my car cigarette lighter and we blew this bad boy of paradise UP. Right there in the driveway ...

That's RIGHT! We're kicking it WESTSIDE - check this out HOMIES of the neighborhood- I'll not be wallowing in YOUR juices!

30 minutes later, we have our own MTV Spring Break! Check out the bountiful colors. It's deep enough to drown a cat!
After proudly displaying my wares to the neighbors- I dragged it into the backyard cause while I don't mind showing off, I'm not trying to get shot up on the block right in my own front yard. So I drug it out back and pulled out the hose - I know. THAT'S CLASSY ...   It took about 10 minutes to fill up -long enough to run in and get my cammo hat and my suit on. I pulled out my floaty from a few years back - and threw that in there - and it was like being back in the Dominican, minus the fried dog and the people chasing you down on the beach.

Another weekend has come - and I am already excited about being back out there tomorrow and Sunday.

All I need is my Mountain Dew and my library books - I know, Mom and Dad, y'all are so proud. I'm thinking about taking real good care of this - and bringing it to the house we build next year. I'm pretty sure our new neighbors are going to be pretty jealous of our style.

Blanca Surveys Her Domain

We took the Big-B out to the land and had her look it over. She got to see her future new home. She loved it - she ran all around the place and even approached the creek, which I didn't think she would do. The roads are in ... and it's all coming together. Our neighbors house is going up really quickly- they gave her a July move in date.

We had never met her before- but she happened to be out there that same day with HER two babies- two giant labs. Looks like we have a dog loving neighbor!

BAY-CON

I learned a lesson today - bacon is one of those things (like shoes) you spend money on.

I went to the store this weekend and splurged on the Wright brand bacon. I got the 24 oz package which had just as many pieces as the 12 oz package, but much thicker. It was $7 and it almost killed me to buy it. I am soooooooo used to $2.59.

But tonight I made BLT's and they were INCREDIBLE. The bacon stayed thick and STRAIGHT when I cooked it. Heaven.

Spend money on BAY-CON.

My Tootsies

Are sporting these:

These are called Blowfish Mishima in "whiskey". Delightful. They are the face of my summer! Organic, natural, comfy!

I got them off Amazon.com although they can be found on Zappos.com and the like, but these were $5 cheaper on Amazon with free shipping. They came today and I am in love. SWOON

I haven't had a decent pair of FLAT brown shoes in ages. It seems the shoe companies of the world are all conspiring to make me have at least a 1/2" heel and I'll have no more of it!

Won Ton Love

So I made an amazing chinese dinner tonight. Chicken teriyaki and rice with egg rolls AND homemade dumplings. It seems the world is on a dumpling craze right now.

After reading it on another blog and talking to Kelley, I finally figured out won ton wrappers are kept in the produce section BECAUSE they are raw dough. WHO KNEW? So I located some this weekend. Tonight I  made chicken and shrimp ones and WOW - WEE it's SO good.

My next genius move? Dessert Dumplings. I will hit the grocery store for ice cream on the way home tomorrow. Imagine it ... you cans stuff these things with all manner of things: bananas, strawberries, brownies, peanut butter, etc ... you can fry them up and sprinkle with powdered sugar. Top with BLUE BELL vanilla ice cream and some caramel sauce. SHUT UP - I KNOW !!!! So tomorrow I'll be trying it. I am SO stoked! I feel like I discovered electricty or earned the right to vote.

It was a good day.

Bad Blogger

I'm sorry I've been neglecting my blog lately!

It seems these health issues just almost completely brought me to a stop. I had a few days of mild hysteria/panic attacks and it made anything but sitting on the phone with my dad, sobbing, impossible. If that isn't a public safety annoucement for parenthood, I don't know what is. Just because we grow up, does not mean we go away! Thanks Dad!

It appears I have a touch of Mitral Valve Prolapse, common in white women and thyroid patients. I happen to be both. YIPPEE. Doc Wilson put me on beta blockers and now I'm trying to adjust to them. At first, they make you VERY ... lethargic. I looked up this particular one, because I was exhibiting some odd side effects and it was as I had suspected - this particular medicine is given to people to make them calm down, such as PTS syndrome patients, newly back from war. It's sort of a ... anti-depressant of sorts. I shared with the good doctor about my complete mental breakdowns and the way I accosted my father with wailing and tears, every night. He looked taken aback at first and then shortly, I had my handy dandy prescription.

Today is day three, it's hardly had time to absorb, BUT the chest pains are mostly gone - a twinge here and there and the palps are barely detectable..... but I am also feeling sort of ... "what-ev's" ... I am in no hurry to do anything, at the risk of saying I just don't care about much ... lol ... I am just very very relaxed.

Good job Doc! Clearly he knew what meds to put me on. I did not have this feeling with the last beta blockers I was on. It's sort of that monotone, I don't care feeling without the wine. :) I daresay, Conrad is THRILLED. There is peace in the house once again.
